2013 NASC Conference: Merging Sentencing Research and Policy
Minneapolis-University of Minnesota Law School
August 4th - 6th
The 2013 National Association of Sentencing Commissions Annual Conference will be August 4-6 in Minneapolis Minnesota, hosted by the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission. We are excited that this year’s conference will be sponsored and co-hosted by the Robina Institute of Criminal Law and Criminal Justice. This partnership will provide the unique opportunity to combine the most recent and in-depth research with views and realities from policy makers from both the States and the Federal Government. Additionally, this generous partnership has allowed us to provide the opportunity for attendees to participate in this conference at a rate much lower than has been possible in the past.
The 2013 NASC conference will highlight special plenary sessions featuring the following papers:
- The Use of Risk Assessments In Sentencing Decisions (two papers)
Please plan to join the NASC Executive Board, Robina Institute faculty, and Commissioners from the Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines Commission for a conference reception on Sunday, August 4th and at a special dinner and reception on August 5th.
The Minnesota Council on Crime and Justice invites NASC conference attendees to a screening of this award-winning film by Eugene Jarecki. This screeing will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4th.
Recognizing the seriousness of drug abuse as a matter of public health, The House I Live In offers a penetrating look inside America's war on drugs, and reveals the human rights implications of U.S. drug policy. More information about the film can be found at: thehouseilivein.org
